Anthony John Carenzo 1944-2024

Anthony John Carenzo, 80, died at his home on October 16, 2024. Born in Northampton on July 29, 1944, he was the son of James J. Carenzo, Sr. and Marian (Wnenta) Carenzo. Tony grew up in Easthampton and was a graduate of Easthampton High School Class of 1962.

He served in the United States Army from August 1962 until July 30 of 1965. He then worked as a local bartender in Easthampton, at Lucchesi’s and the Pulaski Club. He became the co-owner of the Glendale House and also was owner of Token’s Lounge. Tony then worked several years for the Northampton School Department in the custodial staff.

Throughout his life, Tony enjoyed the company of his many friends, playing weekly card games, including pitch and cribbage. He loved all sports, but he had a passion for horse racing. Tony was a communicant of Our Lady of The Valley Parish.


He will be dearly missed by his sister-in-law, Margery Carenzo of Easthampton and his three nephews; James F. (Margaret) Carenzo of Southampton, Micheal Anthony Carenzo of Easthampton and Joseph J. Carenzo of Holyoke. He was fond of his great niece Michelle Wood of Holyoke. Tony was predeceased by his parents and also his brother James J. Carenzo, Jr. who passed away in December of 2022.


Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 22nd from 5 to 7 PM at the Boucher – O’Brien Funeral Home,7 Pleasant St., Easthampton. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 23rd at 10AM, meeting at Our Lady of the Valley Parish, burial to follow with Military Honors in St Stanislaus Cemetery, all in Easthampton.


Memorial donations may be made to Take and Eat Program, C/O Our Lady of The Valley Parish, Easthampton.

I'm so sorry to hear about Tony's passing! 😪 We all loved him at Bridge Street School! He took pride in his work and always kept our school looking neat and clean. I'll never forget how he'd come to our classrooms at the end of the day and we'd say, "Have a good day, Tony!", and his response was always, "Automatic!". RIP, Tony, you will be missed! 💖
