Claire Eva Campbell, 92, passed away at Day Brook Village in Holyoke, MA. Born in Holyoke on July 9, 1930, she was the daughter of Felix and Eva (Galipeau) Gagnon. Claire grew up in Holyoke graduating from Precious Blood High School. She settled in Easthampton when she married Maurice L. Campbell on October 3, 1953 and was married for over 67 years. Claire worked as a bookkeeper at Cottage Street Motors Inc., the company that she owned with her husband. In their retirement they spent many happy winters in North Ft. Myers, FL. Claire was a choir member of Notre Dame du Bon Conseil Parish before becoming a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley. Claire had also been a chorister for the Hampshire Choral Society as well as for the Southampton Community Chorus more recently.
Claire leaves her sons: Ronald Campbell and his caregiver Tom Joyce of Amherst; John Campbell and his wife Tracy Campbell of RI; Scott Campbell in Togo, West Africa, Mark Campbell and his wife Catherine Campbell of RI; and her daughter Cheryl Campbell and her husband James Levine of Granby. Her grandchildren, Catherine Viel and her husband Jeff Viel, Jeremy Levine, Maya Levine, Sarah Campbell, and Luke Campbell, along with two great grandchildren, Benjamin and Cameron Viel. In addition, she leaves behind her sister Monique Ouelette of Belchertown, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Laval Gagnon, Ronald Gagnon, Rev. Roger Gagnon, and her sisters Martha Davignon and Sister Suzanne Gagnon, SGM.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023, at 9 AM from the Boucher-O’Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St., Easthampton. A funeral Mass will follow at Our Lady of the Valley Parish at 10 AM, with her burial to follow in St. Brigid’s Cemetery.
