Janice M. (Lacinski) Murphy, 77, passed away at the Fisher Home in Amherst on September 17, 2024. She was born in Holyoke, on July 20, 1947 to John and Stella (Guz) Lacinski. Janice was raised in Holyoke and attended Mater Dolorosa Grammar School. She then moved to South Hadley where she was a 1965 graduate of South Hadley High School. She received her Associates Degree in Business from Holyoke Community College in 1967, and then went on to work at UMass for almost 40 years. She retired as a supervisor of the engineering department.
She met her beloved husband, John Murphy, at a dance in West Springfield. They were married on June 24, 1972, and spent over 51 wonderful years together until his passing last year. She led a very active life, enjoying hobbies like reading, bingo, golf, bowling, and traveling with her husband. Janice was always dedicated to her church.
She will be dearly missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews, many godchildren, and most importantly by her devoted friends, many that were lifelong.
The funeral for Janice will begin on Thursday, September 26 with a calling hour from 10 to 11 AM at Our Lady of The Valley Church in Easthampton. Her funeral Mass will be held at 11AM with a committal in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Northampton.
