Nancy A. Scott, 89, formally of Easthampton, most recently of the Arbors in Westfield, died peacefully on March 16, 2021. Nancy was born on December 24, 1931 to Lucien Veilleux and Flora (Poudrier) Veilleux in Northampton, MA.
Nancy married her first love, Edward W. Slattery in 1954 immediately after he graduated from North Eastern University in Boston. After their wedding he enlisted in the Marine Corps. In 1958 while stationed at El Toro Marine base in California as a command helicopter pilot, during a training mission he suddenly died in a crash leaving her with their three-year-old son Kevin and seven month old daughter, Eileen.
Nancy returned to Massachusetts and in 1963 she married her second husband William (Bill) Scott, whom she met as a member of the Northampton Circle Players. She had two more children during this marriage, Steven and Bruce Scott.
Upon her return home she worked part-time at local businesses as a bookkeeper and later worked full time when her children had grown. Nancy was also a long time member of Hampshire County BPW and served as the organization President in 1991-92 and later as Western District Director.
Nancy is also predeceased by her husband Bill, who passed away in 1989 after 26 years of marriage.
In 1995 after attending her 45th High School reunion she met an old classmate, Robert (Bob) Mitchell whom she had known since 5th grade when she moved to Easthampton. They were married in 2004 and he passed in 2007.
She has always said God blessed her with three wonderful husbands, but he must have had other plans for them before she was ready.
She leaves her children, Eileen Slattery, Bruce Scott, and his wife, Beth Lux, her grandchildren Shawn Slattery and his wife, Bry Slattery, Brennon Slattery, Chelsea Parker and her husband, Daniel Parker, Widon Scott and Cassadie Scott and a great granddaughter Eowyn Slattery. Nancy also leaves two sisters, Donna Verrilli of Miami, Florida and Karen Barcomb and her husband Dennis Barcomb, of Hatfield, Massachusetts.
Besides her parents and three husbands Nancy is also predeceased by her sons Kevin Slattery (who was survived by his wife, Mary Jo Hauri) and Steven Scott, and her sisters Claire LaMere and Louise Sloan.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday March 25 from 4-6PM at Boucher – O’Brien Funeral Home. Nancy’s funeral will be held on Friday, March 26 at 9AM at Boucher - O’Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant Street, Easthampton with a Funeral Mass at 10AM at Our Lady of The Valley Parish in Easthampton. Burial will follow at Bridge Street Cemetery in Northampton.
