Peter Donald Brooks 1956-2023

Peter Donald Brooks, 66 passed away June 8, 2023 at home. Born on September 18, 1956, in Northampton, MA to Donald and Mathilda (Dorsch) Brooks. He grew up in Hatfield and later moved to Easthampton. He was a 1974 grad of the Smith Vocational High School. Peter worked at Habitat in South Deerfield, Century Kitchens in Hatfield, Brightside for Families & Children and Fred Aaron Realty.

He was a communicant of the Our Lady of the Valley Parish and the former St. Joseph Parish in Hatfield and Notre Dame in Easthampton. He volunteered as maintenance for the Manhan Rail Trail. Was a member of OLV’s Family Choir and helped start and volunteer at OLV’s Angel’s Attic Thrift Store.


His many interests consisted of bird watching, vegetable gardening, canning and freezing fruits and vegetables, hiking and biking.


He leaves his wife of 35 of years, Catherine (Laprade) Brooks, his mother Mathilda Brooks, his uncle Fr. Henry Dorsch, siblings, Marie LaPlante of Hatfield, Linda Lastowski and companion George of Huntington, Michael and Marilyn (Roldan) Brooks of Northampton, Christopher & wife Evelyn Brooks of St. Petersburg, Florida, David & Adele (De Filippo) Tatro of Sandusky, Ohio and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.


Calling hours will be held on Monday June 12, from 4-6PM at Boucher - O’Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St. Easthampton. In honor of Pete, Hawaiian shirts are encouraged for the services.


His funeral will be on Tuesday June 13, 2023 from Boucher - O'Brien Funeral Home at 9AM followed by A Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM at Our Lady of the Valley Parish. Burial to be announced later.


In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Manhan Rail Trail, City Hall, Easthampton, MA 01027 or Our Lady of Valley Parish, 33 Adams Street, Easthampton, MA 01027.
