With profound sadness, we share the news of the peaceful passing of Stephanie Delia (Lascore) Starr, 84, on January 7, 2025, in compassionate hands at Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst, MA. A matriarch in every sense of the word, Stephanie's strength and iron will were the cornerstone of the family.
Born in Montpelier, Vermont August 17, 1940, to Leo Joseph Xavier Lascore, Sr., and Ethel Avis Dwyer Lascore, Stephanie attended local schools in Montpelier, moving to Northampton as a teenager, where she met and subsequently married, the love of her life, Robert.
Stephanie and Robert, married 54 years, resided in Florence, MA where they raised their family. Together they led an active life supporting the Pioneer Valley Building Trades AFL-CIO, where Stephanie provided her meticulous organizational and accounting skills as Financial Administrator. Stephanie also worked for many years at Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Northampton, where she provided accounting services. Stephanie also served as the Treasurer for the local Business Women’s Professional Association.
A woman of many interests and talents, Stephanie, alongside her husband Bob, reveled in the thrills of stock car racing, the serenity of camping, and the companionship found on the golf course. Her love for flea markets and secondhand shops was more than a hobby—it was a treasure hunt that brought her immense joy, as did her vast collection of unique finds.
Stephanie's pride in her home was evident to all who visited. An entertainer at heart, she hosted many gatherings to the twang of country music on 8-track tapes, and an open door to all.
For many years, Stephanie and Bob embraced the "snowbird" lifestyle, where Spring Hill, Florida was their second home. Stephanie indulged her passion for antiquing, always in search of the next piece to add to her collection. She also developed a love for birds and spent many an hour watching them play around the bird feeders she faithfully kept stocked in her yard.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert E. Starr, Sr., her cherished siblings Leo Lascore, Jr., Stephen C. Lascore, Marilyn J. Nolan, and Karen L. Gauthier, and her beloved children Veronica J. (Willard) Follett and Wendy A. (Willard) Morrey. Stephanie is survived by her children, Robert E. Starr, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Easthampton, Lynn M. Starr and her husband Michael Lachapelle of Southampton, and Pamela A. Starr Scott and her husband Ronald of Deerfield. Her legacy continues through her sister Debbie Vuerich (who will dearly miss their long nightly phone calls), her adored grandchildren Nichole J. Follett, Stephanie St. Laurence, and Peter St. Laurence; her nephews Jason Viuerich and Quentin Gauthier; as well as several great-grandchildren.
"Stephanie, your love and legacy will continue to guide us. Rest peacefully, knowing you were truly loved."
The family wishes to thank the Cooley Dickinson Hospital team on the 3rd floor in the West building for their gentle and caring support.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Stephanie’s memory to Hospice of the Fisher Home, 1165 N. Pleasant Street, Amherst, MA 01002. Private services, scheduled at the convenience of the family, are entrusted to Boucher O’Brien Funeral Home, Easthampton, MA.
